Event Details

The New Haven Museum will open its new exhibition, Pronounced Ah-Beetz, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with a reception at 5:30 p.m. The free event will feature slices from Pepe’s, Sally’s, and Modern, with registration required.

The exhibition highlights the history and culture of New Haven’s famous apizza, tracing its roots from Italy to the “Big Three” pizzerias—Pepe’s, Sally’s, and Modern—and extending through a network of local favorites such as Ernie’s, Zuppardi’s, BAR, Zeneli’s, Olde World, and the Big Green Pizza Truck. Artifacts, photographs, and immersive displays will bring the city’s pizza tradition to life, including a brick oven replica and stories of other local staples like Foxon Park Soda.

Pronounced Ah-Beetz will remain on view through October 2027. For details and registration, visit newhavenmuseum.org.
